Austrak (NT) PTY Ltd
Promo and three technical training films
Currently in production
Austrak is Australia's most
advanced railway sleeper manufacturing company.
Its
largest project to date has been the supply
of nearly two million standard gauge sleepers
for the 1420 km, Aus $1.3 billion Alice Springs
to Darwin Railway.
Undertaken in the extreme environments
of Australia's central desert and its tropical
north, at peak production in 2002, the two factories
produced 2400 sleepers per day. A total of 214,000
cubic metres of concrete and 86,000 km of pre-stressing
wire were used in this, the largest civil engineering
project in Australia's history.
This production
filmed at Austrak's purpose built Katherine
Sleeper Factory in 2003, and is currently in
post-production. The end product will be a DVD
containing a corporate promo for the company
(aimed at general industry/stakeholder audiences)
plus three technical films detailing the processes
used in Austrak's unique sleeper construction
process. These films are specifically targeted
at potential global clients and as a training
and induction material for Austrak staff overseas.
